Filmmaker Maria Pusateri's first documentary comes after having a diverse background in film and television. She launched her television production career while working for Cablevision's MetroChannels in New York. As a field producer for Metro's Unblinking Eye, she received a New York Emmy nomination and several Omni and Communicator Awards. Pusateri created over 40 shows for the cultural arts program, covering some of the most interesting events in and around New York City, from the literary arts to music and film.
For Unblinking Eye: Food For Thought, Pusateri received an OMNI Award, two Communicator Awards and a 2002 New York Emmy nomination for "Programming About the Arts." The three-part series featured Elaine Stritch, Judith Light, John Shea, Ally Sheedy and other talented actors reading one-act plays by Arthur Miller, John Guare and Susan Charlotte. In 2001, Pusateri also received an OMNI Award for Unblinking Eye: New York in the Fifties, a half-hour interview with documentary filmmaker Betsey Blankenbaker about her same-titled film. The DVD release of Blankenbaker's "New York in the Fifties" film includes this interview as an added feature. Pusateri earned her first two Communicator Awards in 2000 for the vintage radio show re-creation Unblinking Eye: WWOW Radio-The Adventures of Nero Wolfe.
Ms. Pusateri has directed and conducted many interviews, from man-on-the street to celebrities -- including Harrison Ford, Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. She has also field produced several short entertainment and lifestyle packages, such as film reviews and shopping tips.
Early in her career, Pusateri worked for Paramount Television's syndication arm, assisting in the promotion of such hit series as Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, Laverne & Shirley, Taxi and Bosom Buddies. She also worked on Paramount Pictures' publicity campaigns for some of its biggest theatrical releases, including Raiders of the Lost Ark, Reds and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
Pusateri lives on Long Island with her family and is currently developing other projects for her DreamSlate Productions.
